Sudanese Army Retakes Strategic Sites in Blue Nile State

Sudan’s Army Claims Victory Over RSF and Rebel Allies in Baldago

The Sudanese army announced on Wednesday that its forces had captured several strategic positions in southern Blue Nile state from the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and allied rebel fighters.

Army spokesman Brigadier General Nabil Abdallah said troops from the 4th Infantry Division had successfully cleared the Baldago area of “remnants of the Daglo militia and the forces of Joseph Tuka,” a senior commander in the SPLM-N faction led by Abdelaziz al-Hilu.

In a video statement, an army field commander confirmed that his troops had secured three sites near Baldago and pledged to advance further.

“We will continue fighting and pursuing RSF and SPLM-N forces in every location… We will clear the Yabus area soon,” he said.

The claims could not be independently verified.

The RSF and the SPLM-N alliance had made major advances in Blue Nile in late 2024 after defeating government forces in neighboring Sennar state. But in recent months, the army has regained ground, pushing RSF fighters back toward areas near the South Sudanese border.

According to humanitarian agencies, more than 100,000 people have been displaced by the fighting in Blue Nile, many seeking shelter in the state capital, Damazin.
