Yei River County Legislative Council Resumes Work After Three-Year Closure

The legislative council of Yei River County has officially resumed operations after remaining closed for nearly three years.

During the reopening ceremony, Claudios Milla, chairperson of the County Legislative Council, thanked County Commissioner Emmanuel Taban Seme and Executive Director John Hillary Konga for facilitating the council’s return.

Milla emphasized the importance of cooperation between the three branches of government—executive, judiciary, and legislature—to ensure smooth governance.

He said the council would focus on enacting bylaws, implementing the Local Government Act 2009, and addressing key challenges facing the county.

Among the issues highlighted were land demarcation disputes, illegal tree cutting, delays in budget preparation, and the movement of herders and cattle into the county.
