Allegations of Drone Strikes Surface Amid Ongoing Conflict

Fresh allegations of drone strikes have emerged from Minembwe in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, as the Alliance Fleuve Congo (AFC/M23) claims civilians were targeted.

Spokesperson Lawrence Kanyuka stated that operations carried out early Friday morning resulted in casualties among residents. He condemned the alleged strikes as a breach of international humanitarian law.

Minembwe has been at the centre of recurring violence in South Kivu Province, where armed groups and government forces have engaged in periodic confrontations.

There was no immediate confirmation from Congolese officials regarding the reported events. The volatile security environment in eastern Congo continues to generate conflicting claims from various parties.

Further details about the scale of the alleged attack and casualty figures remain unclear.
